Should schools keep spelling bee?

The Janesville School District might halt its annual spelling bee to refocus classroom time on reading and writing. Is this a good idea? This will be the subject of The Gazette’s editorial Sunday.

Is state helping owners abuse woodland tax break?

Last Sunday’s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Wisconsin has 1.1 million acres in a special forestry tax-break program. The land is supposed to be open to the public for recreational pursuits, but the DNR doesn’t offer maps to help residents find and use it. This will be the subject of The Gazette’s editorial Saturday.
