The Milton Rock: The Next Generation
Since I've already posted twice about the famous Milton High School Rock, I've decided to have occasional Rock Updates.
Like this paint job that appeared last weekend:
Last year's graduating class? Oh, come on, that's just wrong. Not that there are any rules for painting The Rock, but somehow it seems like there should be a period after high school when it's off limits; maybe until your 10-year reunion. Perhaps times have changed, but where my class was concerned, once high school was done, it was done. At least, until we got old and nostalgic.
I will give the Rock painters points, however, for plugging cross country. Ah, glory days....they'll pass you by.
The current paint job, however, is more to my liking:
If a 10-year-old can legally hunt, then it's perfectly OK for 7-year-olds to paint The Rock. Start 'em young, I say. I had doubts, though, that second graders actually participated in this artistic endeavor until I saw this side:
I'm sure that once the high schoolers see this, it won't last long. But at least these young people got some valuable experience. By high school, they might be putting Mona Lisa on The Rock.

If I remember correctly, it's the class of '82 that can discuss the incident of breaking the rock.

JohnDoe - Thanks for the link; now THAT'S a rock. Interesting coincidence (to me) that the site has several mesothelioma links. That's a pretty rare form of cancer that caused my father-in-law's death.

You want to talk about a rock Jim?
Milton can't hold a candle to Iowa.
