Burying The Past...Literally
Most of you have probably heard the term "burying the past." In Milton, that figure of speech is taken literally.
In my previous blog entry, I mentioned my fondness for an old brick walkway that was recently unearthed on the old Milton College campus. Thanks to a reader comment, I strolled back over to the Milton College grounds and took a closer look at the walkway.
And this is what I found:
As was reported to me on the earlier blog entry, “Initially there was another 15 or 20 feet of brick that had been uncovered...that section of walkway was on the College Preservation Society's property and someone with that group requested that the portion on their property be covered back up and the grass reseeded.” And sure enough, as you can clearly see in the photo, part of the walkway was indeed put back beneath the earth.
I'm sure there was a good reason to re-bury the brick...but it's escaping me at the moment.
All I know is, I tried that trick once with my sidewalk, and it didn't work.

Hhmm...College preservation society. Just wondering if they are preserving the past brick walk way (ya know, bring it back again in 100 yrs) or if they are preserving the grass that was once there that is now brick. Boggles the mind...
