O, Autumn In Milton!

OCTOBER IN MILTON

O, autumn in Milton
An amazing time!
The events of October
Presented in rhyme

The city and township
Agreed on a border
Now the township can subdivide
Every last quarter

The middle school closed
When something smelled funny
Not the ethanol plant –
Follow the money!

But neighbors, fear not!
The city took a stand
The ethanol plant
Has a five-point plan:

Summed up in two sentences
Eloquent and pretty
“Hire more consultants!
Talk to the city!”

An electric transmission line
Must find a location
To cross to the east side
For a new substation

Deciding its path
Shouldn't be very hard
The best possible route -
Not in my back yard!

Even though every family's
Cutting their spending
The school district's increases
Are never-ending

Paying eight percent* more
In taxes is plenty
Thank God we're not Edgerton -
They're paying twenty!

The city's intending
To raise your tax bill
To pay for a taxi
That goes to Janesville

Thanks to an error
Accounting nightmares galore!
The state thinks our TIF
Is worth 30 mil more

The city and school district
Are stuck in between
The mess won't be cleaned up
'Til 2013

And that's just October
So much more in store!
This town of 5,000
Is never a bore...

* Technically, 7.62 percent.

SAD and TOOOOO TRUE, JIM!

I continue to be OUTraged as our Milton School District does NOT respond to the ECONOMIC CRISIS of the area. WHY is there NOT direct strong advocacy for a FREEZE of ALL SD-Milton salaries? The reality is that it has been the practice, as I was told at the Annual School District Meeting, that ADMINISTRATORS receive the SAME PAY INCREASE as teachers (members of Milton Education Association)... so, is this not a CONFLICT OF INTEREST? No wonder the administration does NOT seriously negotiate for a PAY FREEZE!!!!

Well... WE THE PEOPLE (voters and taxpayers) are the ones who are the VICTIMS! here we go...

That "interesting" comment is not from me. Sorry there's not more discussion, Jim. The "consultants" part made me laugh out loud.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
If your little ditty wasn't true,
It may have smelled like "poo"!
