The East Troy girls basketball team held a 13-point first-half lead, but Kewaunee got a layup at the buzzer to score a 60-58 victory in the WIAA Division 3 state title game at the Resch Center. Rachel Atchison scored a team-high 21 points and Breanna Gaspervich added 14 points for the Trojans. East Troy (26-2) had a double-digit lead early in the third quarter before Kewaunee (27-1) kept chipping away. With the game tied at 58, Kewaunee held the ball for the final shot. After a timeout, the Storm’s Jill Kleiman drove to the basket and found Alex Richard underneath the hoop for a layup as time expired. --Greg Bates, Special to the Gazette
