Fire shuts Parker Drive
JANESVILLE Firefighters have closed North Parker Drive while they deal with a transformer room fire in the office building at 1 Parker Place, Janesville.
Firefighters were called to the building at 8:36 p.m. for an automatic commercial fire alarm according to Rock County Communication Center.
Initially, firefighters encountered a smoky haze in the basement. Later, however, the sound of loud pops and bangs could be heard coming from the loading dock area of the basement.
Firefighters pulled their personnel and truck away from the building and waited for Alliant Energy.
Alliant Energy arrived at the scene at 10:40 p.m.
