Legislature to consider another raw milk bill
MADISON—The state Legislature is expected to consider another bill legalizing the sale of unpasteurized milk in Wisconsin, legislation that could have Gov. Scott Walker’s support if it contains safeguards for consumers’ health.
Republican Sen. Glenn Grothman says he plans to introduce the legislation in the next few weeks.
State law currently prohibits the sale of raw milk to the public. Opponents of the law say consumers should be able to decide for themselves if they want it. Raw milk supporters say it contains nutrients that are destroyed during pasteurization.
Grothman introduced a similar bill in 2011that died in committee. Walker spokesman Cullen Werwie tells the Journal Sentinel the governor would sign a bill to allow the limited sale of raw milk if it contained the health protections.

If you don't want to drink raw milk, don't buy it from a farmer. If you want raw milk because it has proven health benefits, then why is the government involved? The government should be more concerned with all the chemicals and artificial colors and flavors in our foods - some of them banned in every other country, and known carcinogens...really...

If the lobbyists say it is so, Milk can be treated as a drug :)
But it is ridiculous that we have a law that says I can't go to a farmer and buy a whole natural food. But we can't get a law that requires them to tell us they've spliced eel genes with salmon genes and they can sell it as natural

Why on earth would the govt dictate if people can get raw milk? Does this fall into a catagory of illegal drugs or something? Milk? Really?
