Wisconsin Public Service warns of scams
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Public Service is warning customers to be aware of scammers posing as utility employees.
The Green Bay-based utility says the scammers have been contacting small businesses and residential WPS customers and telling them payments on their accounts have not been received.
Customers are told their power could be disconnected immediately if they don’t make a payment within an hour or two.
WPS says customers were told to purchase prepaid debit cards and call back to make a payment.
Another scam is that customers are told to get some cash together for pickup.
The utility company is urging customers who have been contacted by a suspected scammer to call police.

hint, scammers know how to target the vulnerable members of society such as the elderly. Clearly this one is using fear tactics and hitting people who have a legitimate reason to panic about their utility payments.
.
It doesn't help that the power companies have long since ceased having local counters where you can sort these things out with a human being not over the phone, of course. The various ways that a family member was given to solve their own overdue bill just recently were far too much for someone with a limited education -- you could do it THIS way, but you couldn't do it at THAT office, you could set up THIS payment plan, but only if you had THAT information. I can totally believe someone would fall for this prepaid card business.

Agreed hint. I`m not the sharpest tool in the shed, but it is very hard to believe that people fall for this crap.

You guys aren't referring to "Mr. never submitted a budget or a list of entitlement programs to be cut and then blame the Republicans for taking no action", are you? No need to respond in the affirmative, just vote "present". It's worked so well for him in the past.
He's taken the classic "vote early and vote often" paradigm from his hometown and morphed it into "lie early and lie often".

We also have a man posing as the leader of our country going around yelling "the sky is falling, the sky is falling but I want to spend more money." He made many promises he hasn't kept (the most transparent president, post all bills before voting on them, yada, yada, yada) and when called on the carpet for his hypocrisy, his henchmen threaten the reporter. Nice guy, huh? Talk about a scam!

Also, there are reports of a person dressed as a Governor telling people he knows what's best for the state and he will create 250,000 jobs. The people that have fallen victim to this scam are those that voted for him. Twice!
