Panel to vote on pay raise
MADISON--A committee of legislative leaders is scheduled to vote today on Gov. Scott Walker’s proposal increasing the pay for most state and University of Wisconsin workers by 1 percent in each of the next two years.
The proposal is before the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Employment Relations. If approved, it would take effect on Sunday.
The pay raises would be the first for most university and state workers in five years.
Under Walker’s plan, the 1 percent raise at UW could be used to give faculty and academic staff across-the-board raises, or more targeted merit pay raises or increases targeted to retain highly valued workers.
