JANESVILLE--The city of Janesville has declared a snow emergency starting at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

A snow emergency means that all parked vehicles must be removed from city streets and public parking lots until snow plowing is complete.

Cars on the street after 3 p.m. could be ticketed. Fines are $50.

Janesville residents can get additional snow emergency information from the city's website by clicking here or by calling 755-SNOW. To report problems or concerns, call 755-3110.

Oh well...lost the bet. Plows just went through. Really surprised that they plowed at all. It's 9:30 and past my bedtime. Now I won't be able to re-do the end of the driveway and sidewalk ramp until after work tomorrow.

This policy seems very antithetical to Janesville's just park anywhere culture.

saxcat70, I parked my car in the street at 3:30, came in to change & relax for a minute...read your post and feared that I would get a ticket! Now my drive & walk is done, I'm froze to death and can barely breathe (asthma)...but those damn cops aren't going to give me a ticket! I bet they don't even plow our street tonight. And here I was going to leave it for hubby to do when he got home.

dummy me got a ticket the last one. After getting home from work, fixing my garage door, shoveling my driveway, sidewalk, the foreclosed corner lot sidewalk next to me, and about 8 beers, I forgot to pull the truck in. ouch.
In today's case, I think it is silly to start a snow emergency at 3pm. Where is someone supposed to park while while they shovel their driveway?
