Wis. Senate passes change to bill publication
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin state Senate has passed a bill that takes away the power of the secretary of state office to delay publishing bills passed by the Legislature.
Democrats opposed the measure Tuesday, which they say is about political payback against actions Secretary of State Doug La Follette took in 2011.
La Follette angered Republicans in 2011 by delaying publication of a bill that effectively ended collective bargaining for public workers and required them to pay more for health insurance and pensions.
The bill gives duties of publishing bills exclusively to the Legislative Reference Bureau.
It passed on a party line 17-14 vote. Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos also supports the measure, which should clear its passage there. It is not yet scheduled for a vote in the Assembly.

Joe: The process has changed. It's been taken out of the hands of a biased politician and handed over to folks who are unbiased.
Apology accepted though...
Signed,
Single-minded zealot.

I apologize janesvillefirst. The bill publishing authority has been handed over to the LRB. The first version of the bill would have seen the Secretary of State retain that authority, but the final version changed that. Still, the process hasn't changed, only who does the publishing and the timeline.

janesvillefirst--The Secretary of State is still "in the process," as you so goofily say. The process has not been "streamlined." The process has not been changed at all. What has been changed is the timeline. The Secretary of State used to have up to ten days to publish new laws. He now has one day. His role has not changed at all-only the time frame in which he operates has changed. In your zeal to give the Republicans credit for saving the world you have misstated the facts. This not only does not surprise me, it is exactly what I always expect from single-minded zealots.

Finally the uneeded extra step is gone, for good. None of the negative commentors probably know why the Goofus Sec. of State even was in the process, but by golly the Republicans streamlined it (just like they will the mining permit procedure) so it's got to be bad. Next, the change of venue law revamp. We're on a roll.
I'll wait to see if any of them answer the question.

No, donnaw, you are wrong. The Secretary of State was previously required to act within 10 days. He never, ever had "as long as he likes" as you so incorrectly claim he did. This is one of the problems I have with those who support either party so vigorously...you twist the truth and misstate facts until you are only dealing in fiction, and then you blast the fiction that you have created.

donnaw go watch fox news as you accept the corruption and promote it as they do. Also the lies they use to support their corruption. When are they ever going to charge the biggest criminal of the all, Scooter Doe and his Attorney General that buries everything in paperwork so he help the corruption? When is enough going to be enough with the Repukes and their puppets?

I suppose it was just fine that the Sec of State can delay publication of a passed law just as long as he likes. Yeah, I see, it only works one way...for the lefties. That was an earned and correct thing to make sure passed bills get enacted in a timely manner and not at the whim of a political hack.

Whenever the Wisconsin Republicans don't get their own way, they change the law so that from now on, the law REQUIRES that they get their own way. They act like little kids who insist on things being their way. Are they TRYING to make people lose all respect for them?
