EDGERTON—Traffic through downtown Edgerton is being rerouted due to a accident that caused a gas main leak, according to the 911 Communications Center.

The leak was caused by a traffic accident at Hubert Street and Highway 51/Main Street. The intersection is two blocks north of the Edgerton Pharmacy, 711 N. Main St.

Residents and travelers are being asked to avoid the area.

Travelers coming from the south who want to get on Interstate 90/39 should take Highway 59 to the Interstate exit near Newville.

Travelers coming off the Interstate should avoid the Highway 51 exit and take the Highway 59 exit instead.

I don't need any explanation. I read the headline 3 times to try and understand what was meant; which I finally did. It made me laugh so I had to write someting. I was being a smarty pants. I'm glad they revised the headline, it makes better sense now! I know Edgerton very well. I've been here for 10 years...thanks for your insight woodsman.

I love how the Gazette, when called on a ill worded headline, will just surreptitiously change it, even though in so doing, may make previous posts seam unintelligible.

I think they owe an explanation to the posters when they do such a thing.

How about it Gazette...do you agree?

Why would they reroute traffic over a gas leak? They should probably reroute traffic to go around the gas leak.
