The Janesville School District issued this weather-related statement this afternoon:

"All events scheduled for this evening will go on as planned, but families who have children walking to and from the events may want to make other arrangements."

The National Weather Service forecast for Janesville for Monday night calls for a low around minus 5 and wind chill values between minus 15 and minus 20.

Tuesday's forecast is sunny and cold with a high near 9. A northwest wind will drive wind chill values to between minus 10 and minus 20.

I remember walking a mile in the freezing cold, just so I could get to school early and play in the snow with my friends. Of course they won't let you do that now either.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this is winter and we do live in Wisconsin don't we ? I remember in the 70's standing out for the bus for 15 min everyday, doing chores and being kids,it was a heck of a lot colder then and for weeks at a time ! This world is becoming sissified. Just saying!
