MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Co-chairs of the Legislature’s Audit Committee have scheduled a public hearing for next week to gather more information about $33 million in overpayments made by the University of Wisconsin System.

A recent audit uncovered the overpayments made to health insurance premiums and pensions.
Republican Sen. Rob Cowles and Republican Rep. Samantha Kerkman said Tuesday they scheduled a hearing for Jan. 22 to discuss another possible audit of the UW’s payroll and benefit processing, including its new human resource system.

UW President Kevin Reilly has promised to hire an independent auditor to figure out what went wrong. Cowles said in a statement that the overpayments are a "major problem."Kerkman said the UW System should be held accountable.

Let's see, You have a bunch of liberal lefties that run the UW System, they loose 33 million then some more lefties try to blame it on the current Republican governor? Classic hypocrisy by the party who defined the term.

High...the computer system at UW has never worked right for years. Ask any UW IT employee. But then you will slam Walker if there is gum wrapper on the floor of the capital.

It was working fine before. Walker steps in and appoints new people to run it. Money goes missing. Can't you see the trend?

"The UW system is huge, and has many problems."
So does the Republican cabal in Madison...

How do you find Walker to blame? People at the UW get paid huge salaries to manage this, don't you think they should be responsible?

How about the issue that came up when Doyle put one of his aides into a $245,000-per-year job as VP of the UW system. The UW president did not post the job, nor did he do a search for a candidate for the job.

The UW system is huge, and has many problems.

Yet another Scott Walker failure to add to the growing list of mess ups. Scott Walker mandated redesign of the University of Wisconsin’s human resources system isn't working. Just like his other brilliant money saving brainstorms, millions are unaccounted for and we have to spend more tax payer money to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. Way to go Walker.

Just goes to show that the UW has plenty of money. So much, that they don't even miss 33 million.
