ELKHORN--Walworth County sheriff’s deputies suing the county over benefits will have to convince a judge that one portion of state statutes outweighs another.

In October, the deputies association filed suit, saying its members’ rights were violated by the collective bargaining process.

On Monday, the issue was taken up in closed session by the Walworth County Board Executive Committee.

Walworth County Administrator David Bretl said after the meeting that he couldn’t comment about an ongoing lawsuit.

Alot of Law enforcement agencies are getting their health plans raised at extreme levels due to wording in act 10. The agencies are saying due to wording they can raise health plans without bargining. Some agencies have doubled and almost tripled deductables and the like. There is several lawsuits from different agencies in the courts right now. Also alot of agenices are making the newer officers pay their full pension even though act 10 says LEO's are exempt.

It likely has to do with the health plan. There was a change made regarding negotiating health plans which has resulted in confusion over what is covered for public safety employees.

This preview article is totally worthless. I read it 3 times and can't figure out what's going on here. Hopefully the full article is more clear.
