NEW LONDON, Wis. (AP) — In a city not too far from Green Bay, a tiny contingent of football fans will be rooting for the 49ers when they meet the Packers in Saturday’s playoff game at San Francisco.

49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s love of football has roots in Wisconsin, where Packer fans’ loyalty runs deep.

Aunt Pat Kaepernick, in New London, has a photo of young Colin and her son Brett posing outside Lambeau Field in their Brett Favre jerseys. WLUK-TV says the 49ers quarterback lived in Fond du Lac until he was four and his family moved to California. Extended family remain in Wisconsin.

And while Kaepernick grew up as a Packers fan, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers cheered for the 49ers as a boy. Rodgers grew up in Chico, about 3 hours northeast of San Francisco.
