JANESVILLE--A Rock County man convicted of multiple sexual assaults was scheduled to be released from prison Tuesday to Rock Valley Community Programs, Janesville.

Instead, the state has filed a petition in Rock County Court to commit the man to supervision under the state’s sexually violent offender law.

Jimmie L. Mable, 65, is at Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Facility in Mauston, according to a spokeswoman for the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Mable is eligible for commitment as a sexually violent offender because he has mental disorders that predispose him to acts of sexual violence and cause him “serious difficulty” in controlling his behavior, according to the petition filed Jan. 4 by the state Department of Justice.
