Wisconsin technical college pay topped UW compensation
GREEN BAY—Full-time instructors in Wisconsin’s technical college took home an average of $90,000 last year in base pay and overages. That was slightly more than the $86,000 in compensation for professors at the 13 University of Wisconsin universities.
A Green Bay Press-Gazette report says one instructor at Fox Valley Technical College nearly doubled his $88,000 salary through overages, or additional classes.
Some argue that allowing professors to accumulate overages saves money by avoiding the need to hire part-time workers. Others say the system limits staff diversity and allows for outsized compensation packages.
The highest-paid professor in the UW System is Randall Wright, who teaches finance at UW-Madison. He made $441,000 last season. Only the school’s athletic director, basketball coach and two departed football coaches made more.

I worked for many years without a deduction for health insurance
while those with employer provided health insurance
enjoyed those benefits tax free.
Only more recently did the tax code allow for individual health insurance deductions
and those were phased in over a number of years with gradual allowed percentages.
I did not think that it was fair,
but I accepted it as the law without shedding tears.
Do not expect any tears from me if you have to start paying on your benefits.

The higher tax rates just enacted will be a trade off for the pork put in the bill. You know, those important things like Hollywood, NaSCAR, electric bikes, etc. doncha love Obama's logic and those imbecile congress members who agreed....both sides of the aisle.

Donna, the professor will only pay the higher rate
on the last $41,000 of his income if he is single and has no deductions.
If the house had prevailed with Plan B from Outer Space,
he would be covered up to one million dollars.
Dr Evil would be delighted!

49,000... That's fourty nine thousand university grads and post grads are currently enrolled in the Wisconsin Technical college system. So they can obtain the skills necessary to get a job..
.
This is reason alone to justify the headline.
.
The super high pay for UW Econ instructors? I dunno...
.
If the average salary numbers seem high to you? Don't fret.. Act 10 will have them trimmed down by the time the Gazette gets around to repeating this article same time next year.
.
With the advent of ACT 10 (after all current contracts expeire) All faculty work rules, as well as how overtime is calculated is currently subject to change at the discression of local tech college administrators with no required input from the teachers unions.

The difference being that the athletic dept at UW pays for itself pays for itself. Last I heard the football, men's basketball and maybe hockey take in enough to pay for their budgets plus support all the other sports at UW- Madison.
And you wonder why tuition keeps going up? $441,000 for a finance instructor? Plus benefits up the wazoo! At least he'll get the new Obama "tax the rich" rates!
