Traxler Park lagoon open for skating
The city is doing things the old-fashioned way, clearing snow from a section of the Traxler Park lagoon so residents can ice skate.
The lagoon, which officially opens tonight, has 5 inches of ice. A land rink next to the lagoon that features a new flooding system has not yet frozen.
The city built the flooding system in December 2011 by digging a depression and installing a series of pipes that flood the rink from the bottom. Cost was about $45,000.

They filled that skating rink a month ago,it is so full of goose crap I would not even want to walk on it ! That being said the lagoon is a great asset ,I remember when I was a kid it was absolutely full of people skating and having a very good time. The rink was and is a waste of money,if the lagoon freezes use it if it don't there always is next year.

wtp - It's because they just started flooding it. Water takes time to freeze.
