Man faces charges he threatened to kill his dad on Facebook
LA CROSSE--Criminal charges are pending against a La Crosse man who posted threats to kill his father on his Facebook page.
An online friend reported the disturbing post early Sunday after Kaleb Brush wrote “im gonna kill my dad i promise you that i already got a knife in my pocket waiting for him to come home,” according to La Crosse police reports.
Officers found Brush, 24, and his father arguing in the entryway of their home at 1311 North St. about 3:30 a.m.
Brush had a kitchen knife with a 4.5 inch blade in his pocket, reports stated.
Brush’s father told police he stopped his son from joining a fight at a North Side bar before the two began arguing about drinking, reports stated. Brush’s father went to another bar while his son returned home and posted the threat online, reports stated.
Brush’s Facebook friends responded by writing him to stop his threats and posted that he was scaring them.
“Please don’t do something you’ll regret for the rest of your life,” one wrote. Brush replied with expletive-laced messages, including one that read: “i’m sorry lize but dad is dead wen he gets here.”
He admitted to posting the threat but claimed he was “just blowing off steam and really didn’t mean it,” reports stated. He had a 0.11 percent alcohol level.
Brush later told police he carries the knife for protection because “who knows when you’ve been drinking?” according to reports. His father said he wasn’t concerned and that he planned to throw away victim’s rights and statement forms from police.
His son faces a charge of disorderly conduct while armed when he appears in La Crosse County Circuit Court.
