Report: Tribal gaming revenue declining in Wisconsin
MILWAUKEE—A new report shows tribal gaming revenue in Wisconsin has declined.
Gaming by the state’s 11 tribes generated about $1.2 billion in 2011, down nearly 5 percent from 2007.
The Casino City’s Indian Gaming Industry report says Wisconsin is one of seven states where tribal gaming revenue has declined. Twenty-eight states have tribal casinos.
Nationally, tribal gaming revenue is up. Tribal casinos took in about $27 billion in 2011, up $3.4 percent from the previous year.
The Journal Sentinel says despite the decline in revenue, tribal gaming profit in Wisconsin has increased by about $23 since 2009 to nearly $577 million in 2011.
The state Legislative Audit Bureau says tribal payments to the state are up 2.5 percent since mid-2010.

This is a bad window to measure. 2007 was the peak of the housing/credit bubble and there was a lot of "free money" so to speak that people were spending without much care, as it came from (now understood to be false) equity valuations of their property. I would like to know how gambling spending compares to other metrics like home sales and values.

I admire you guys that control your spending while at the casinos. Too bad others don't do the same. Good for you! You can still enjoy being with friends and not lose your control. If I lost $150 gambling I would be so depressed.

I hear you wtp. I just toss a couple of quarters out the window as I go by. It's cheaper than going in.

They didn't get my $20.00 as that is all i will spend on gambling and that last a total of 3 to 5 minutes. That is why gambling does not turn me on as I hate to lose so qucikly. I have gone with friends and all I ever do is walk around because I spent my 20 I took with me. So how do my friend do, well most lose around 150.00 and they say they had a good day. No one ever comes out ahead in this game.

An increase of $23 since 2009 ? That must have been the day I was there. Oh we'll, at least I made my contribution. Lets build another one now !
