Snow emergency declared
JANESVILLE—The city of Janesville has declared a snow emergency starting at 5 a.m. Wednesday.
A snow emergency means that all vehicles must be removed from city streets and public parking lots until snow plowing operations are complete. To ensure that you do not receive a parking ticket, move your vehicle before 5 a.m. and keep it off city streets until they have been completely plowed.
If you are unable to park in a driveway or garage, vehicles can be parked in one of six downtown municipal parking lots in a designated snow emergency parking stall.
They are:
-- East Wall Street lot at East Wall Street and North Parker Drive
-- Municipal Building lot at West Wall Street and North Jackson Street
-- South High Street lot at West Court Street and South High Street
-- Senior Center lot at St. Lawrence Avenue and Water Street
-- Hedberg Public Library lot on Water Street
-- River/Union Street lot at South River Street and Union Street
-- Parking ramp at North Parker Drive and East Wall Street.
Fines for parking on the streets during a snow emergency are $50. Police may begin issuing tickets before plowing begins.
Residents can get additional snow emergency information on the city’s website or by calling (608) 755-SNOW. To report problems or concerns, call 755-3110.

It sure was for a Large Fire Truck today at 430ish he could not make the grade at Delavan and Centerway heading west toward the light "VFW" Club. He started slip sliding away and did a 180 degree flip and ended up going back East in 1 minute nice manuevers of pure luck ! It was a crazy sight.

This whole "Snow Emergency" is a farce!!! Yes, good and decent people follow the rules..and get their cars off the street. But we have some really awful neighbors, and they disregard ANY laws or rules..and always always leave their cars on the street---usually on our side...and they have NEVER EVER received a ticket! We had one car that sat for a month thru the blizzard and other snows--was almost hidden from all the snow on it...and never once was a ticket issued. The plows just plowed it in, and went around it.
