Democrat says he’ll work with GOP on Medicaid deal
MADISON—Democratic state Sen. Jon Erpenbach says he will be talking with Republican lawmakers about accepting a federally funded Medicaid expansion that ends after a certain period of time.
Erpenbach discussed the possible deal Tuesday at a health care conference.
Republican Gov. Scott Walker has proposed rejecting the Medicaid expansion in his state budget, which is subject to approval by the GOP-controlled Legislature.
Erpenbach says he knows of Republicans in the state Senate who have a difficult time with Walker’s plan, which would result in turning away an estimated $4.4 billion in federal funding to expand Medicaid for 175,000 adults.
Erpenbach and other Democratic lawmakers on a panel at the conference criticized Walker’s plan and say it is motivated by politics, not what makes sense for the state.

As always it's the other sides fault and responsibility to do everything. Here is a senator saying lets work together, give and take, and you say it's a non story. If the roles were reversed and it was as story about Fitzgerald saying they would work together you would laud him .

LOL, I love the claims posted that the dem is "working" with the other side. The fact is the story is about the dem trying to get/find other members that will accept what the dems want.
A bipartisan approach would be finding of common ground between what both sides want; not just accepting a one-sided approach.

Wislady does NOT want whats best for the state, she just wants her team to win. She wants a one sided society where everyone is forced to have the same opinion as her , because her ideas and those of her tribe are the only relavant ones in society. All other politicians are irrelavant, all other opinions must be obliterated. Her view of the country is the only correct one. How DARE Senator Schultz actually show some backbone and cast a ballot in the interests of his constituents.
Wislady sounds like she would rather live in 1930's-1940's Germany rather than America. Thanks to her I understand why the farthest right ing politics are considered Fascism. What a joke!

It is a non story....when he hasn't met with Fitzgerald, and he refused to name who he supposedly talked to. One guess......Rino Schultz.
Jon can show his bipartisanship tomorrow.

Wislady, you've been asking for the Dems to be bi-partisan and work with the Repubs. Here is a story about one volunteering to work with them and you say it's a non story. I guess your idea of working together is falling into line and knowing their place right?

Rank and file Republicans seem to be a little angry that their fellow citizens may be getting some health care.

Maybe JE should have taken the time to talk to Majority Leader Fitzgerald before he decided to call the reporters.

virginia_badger, that's the six-year cost of the plan, not annual. The intent is that access to regular preventative care will forestall higher medical expenses and prevent costly ER visits by the uninsured, which are currently paid for by all other patients one way or another.
