Beloit man arrested on 9th OWI charge Saturday
JANESVILLE--Janesville police were trying to prevent a domestic disturbance when they arrested a Beloit man on suspicion of ninth-offense intoxicated driving Saturday evening, according to a news release.
Arrested was Shane A. Clark, 39, of 1920 Sixth St., Beloit, on charges ninth-offense intoxicated driving. He also was ticketed for speeding, failure to stop at a sign, failure to wear a seatbelt and having an open intoxicant in the vehicle. He also was arrested on charges of of disorderly conduct while armed and unlawful use of a telephone. Both charges carry domestic violence enhancers.
A woman called police to the 100 block of Royal Court at 6 p.m. Saturday. Clark was threatening her over the phone, according to the news release. Police learned Clark was driving in the area of Palmer Park and was possibly armed.
An officer spotted Clark near Main and Clark streets and stopped him at Tyler and Sharon streets, according to the news release. He was taken into custody at the Rock County Jail.
