Beloit declares snow emergency
With 5 to 6 inches of snow forecast to accumulate on Rock County overnight, the City of Beloit has declared a snow emergency for Friday.
The declared emergency will last from midnight tonight until noon Friday, which is when the National Weather Service predicts the heaviest snow will fall.
The Department of Public Works warned in a news release that snow could close the eastbound lane of East Grand Street because of construction in the area. It will be reopened once it has been cleared.
The city also reminded drivers that vehicles cannot be parked on city streets during the declared emergency, noting that police can ticket or tow cars parked or standing on the streets.
