Dogs fall through ice on Janesville lagoon

JANESVILLE—Three dogs fell through the ice in the Traxler Park Lagoon on Sunday. Two survived.
A woman driving over the Veterans Memorial Bridge spotted the dogs on the ice and saw them go in. She called 911 shortly before 11 a.m.
Janesville firefighters fished one of the dogs out of the water near the culvert that connects the lagoon to the Rock River. A second dog escaped. Its owner was still looking for it around 11:20 p.m.
The third dog drowned. Firefighters recovered the body.
