MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Actor James Cromwell has been arrested for allegedly disrupting a University of Wisconsin Board of Regents meeting where he was protesting animal testing.

University police Sgt. Brent Gruber says the 73-year-old Cromwell was arrested and ticketed on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. Cromwell and an activist from an animal-rights group also arrested were released from jail by Thursday afternoon.

They held two large signs showing a cat with metal implanted in its head at a UW-Madison lab, while shouting about the treatment of cats Thursday morning. The director of the school’s Research Animal Resources Center says federal agriculture officials have found their claims to be false.

Cromwell was nominated for an Academy Award for the 1995 film “Babe.” Other credits include “L.A. Confidential,” “The Green Mile” and “The Artist.”

They didn't mention that he was Stretch Cunningham on Archie Bunker.

Perhaps we could start with EMMO.
What's the worst that could happen?
Are you avoiding calls from your mothership?

Maybe WISLADY & Others should see first hand or how about - at least - the graphic pictures of why they were protesting. The insane and extreme CRUELTY towards the animals is proof of what is going on. Don't knw if you have a pet, but as one person already mentioned putting a metal tube in and having it stick out of an animals(cat) head is sick.

So, mrsjoe...are you saying that there is a metal "tube" sticking out of Cromwell's head that is his antenna to recieve the signals from the mother ship? Ah, thanks for clearing that up.

You cat people are absurd. Have you never had a medical procedure of any kind? Do you suppose that technique was perfected on animals before being used on humans. Have you ever taken any prescription drug? Do you suppose that drug may have been tested on anumals first?
Of course they have, and it is a measure of safety that is required for procedures and drugs to be proven before they are safely administered to humans.

Would you rather they use humans for the tests? Who, may I ask? Non-cat lovers?
Good night mrs joe, wherever you are. (my apologies to Jimmy Durante for that)

EMO: it wasn't a metal plate in the cat's head. It was a metal tube sticking out of it's head. And I agree with Cromwell...It IS cruelty. Why does a cat need a metal tube in it's skull? What is it testing? If people agree that this is fair and usual treatment maybe those people should volunteer their skulls for implantation of an 8" metal tube in their skulls. It's disgusting. I STAND WITH CROMWELL!! THANK YOU FOR STANDING UP FOR ANIMALS!!

Sounds like Cromwell is the one who has a metal plate in his head.
Probably to get directions from the Mother Ship.

Will they file a lawsuit, like the protesters do when they get arrested at the Capitol?
