Flood warnings, watches issued in Rock County

Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast on the Rock River in three different Rock County locations.

According to a National Weather Service statement issued at 4:42 a.m. Tuesday, flood warnings continue for the Rock River at Afton and Newville and a flood watch continues for the river near Lake Koshkonong.

The river will continue rising to near 10 feet by early Saturday morning before it starts to fall at Afton.

And it already was .4 of a foot above the 5.5-foot flood stage Tuesday in Newville where the flood warning will remain in effect until the river falls below flood stage.

The flood stage of 10 feet is forecast by Thursday morning for the river near Lake Koshkonong.
