MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Legislature’s joint rules committee has extended temporary regulations enacting Wisconsin’s concealed carry law again.

The rules committee voted in August to extend the regulations through Oct. 16 to give the state Justice Department more time to develop permanent rules.

Those rules are done but still need approval from a standing committee in both the Assembly and Senate. Neither house has scheduled any votes on the package. Lawmakers are busy campaigning ahead of the November elections.

Justice officials asked the rules committee to extend the temporary regulations through Dec. 15. The panel voted 9-0 on Thursday to grant the request.

The rules provide a framework for the agency as it administers the concealed carry law, authorizing the agency to revoke permits and require proof of training.
