MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker’s top aide has apologized to the state’s economic development agency’s board for not telling members about a critical letter from the federal government.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development said in an Aug. 12 letter the state Department of Administration and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation failed to follow federal law and their own policies in issuing grants. The letter came to light in a Wisconsin State Journal story Wednesday, leaving WEDC board members frustrated about being left out of the loop.

DOA Secretary Mike Huebsch told board members Thursday he chose not to inform them because the agency and HUD are continually in discussions about WEDC, a new quasi-private corporation Walker formed after taking office. He says the decision was a mistake.

What a joke! Sounds like an attempt at keeping this out of the public spotlight to me. Our state government has become a clown college at best, and this just amplifies the complete incompetence of the administration.

Read the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel story below that explains things better than the Gazette online story. Bottom line - Scotty and the boys spent $$$10 Million dollars without legal authority.

This was no 'mistake'. It was a calculated decision made and/or approved by the Guv. If it was a 'mistake', Huebsch wouldn not have waited until being outed by a newspaper reporter; he would have 'fixed' the problem weeks/months ago. Now, it's just damage control.

A RESIGNATION letter should come next--> From him & Walker - this is not just a simple mistake and another example of Walker politics. Take a look and see who Walker has surrounded himself with and what has happened so far.

It's pretty telling that Walker's own agency has a board he doesn't see fit to inform about something that should be alarming (violation of federal law). They don't even trust the people they appoint to oversee the agency they created to a tailor-made design. But then, Walker never saw fit to consult the people of Wisconsin on any of his momentous decisions. The fact that it's all gone awry is, in fact, the predictable result of this hand-wavy, behind the cloak form of governance.

I don't like Walker one bit, but you guys failed to comprehend the story - the state Department of Administration failed to inform Walker's Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation that they also failed to follow federal law in issuing HUD grants, not the other way around.

It is so predictable how people like "mines" sidestep the problem and then tries to spin the facts. Perhaps I should have written, “PATHETIC” instead of predictable.

You people have got to get a life. If your not happy in Wisconsin, move to Illinois where they are BROKE. You lost the vote and recall, live with it and let the State work itself out.

Ah yes, so typical of the Walker administration; behind closed doors, in secrecy, after hours, do not tell anyone, hide this, hide that, lies of omission, outright lies, and on and on. What a disgrace to the State of Wisconsin.
