Sharon man dies Saturday in one-vehicle crash near Janesville
TOWN OF LA PRAIRIE—A Sharon man is dead after he lost control of his pickup truck Saturday morning on a rural road near Janesville.
Officials found John Wegner Jr., 47, Sharon, on Milton-Shopiere Road near Lone Lane after a crash reported at 8:50 a.m., according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office. The intersection is in the town of La Prairie 2 miles southeast of Janesville between Avalon Road and Highway 14.
Wegner was driving south on Milton-Shopiere Road when his truck struck a concrete buttress that spans the road. His Chevrolet S-10 rolled and burst into flames. Wegner was ejected onto the roadway, according to the news release.
Wegner was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, according to the news release.
