CROSS PLAINS, Wis. — More than 200 people are losing their jobs in Cross Plains.

Allstate Insurance officials say they plan to close an auto claims center there Dec. 31.

Company spokesman Justin Herndon tells WISC-TV the 214 employees there were told about the decision Wednesday morning.

Some employees might be eligible to get other positions within the company.

Allstate has eight other claims centers. The Cross Plains office is the only one closing.

Perhaps Allstate is preparing for either Obamacare or Ryancare. If "None Of The Above" were a ballot option, NOTA would win this election. http://www.nota.org

I have to figure Walker is more to blame than Obama. They are consolidating jobs into other states, not another country. If the big O was to blame, then the jobs would be leaving the country. BTW, I am not blaming either for the jobs leaving, it is probably just a business decision.

But don't forget that Janesville is coughing up $9 million to bring in about 100 jobs that will start in 2014. Apparently Cross Plains isn't as desparate as we are.

Oh, I see!. Lost jobs are Governor Walker's fault while President Obama has it all fixed and all we have to do is be patient and re-elect Obama since Romney/Ryan/Walker really intend to kill all our jobs.

Some of you posters are a laugh riot.

The Republicans do not have a single theory, principle,or policy that has ever been shown to create jobs. Greed always gets in the way. And your billionaire "job creators" threatening to LAYOFF or DECREASE jobs if President Obama is re-elected. In the midst of a recovery, that is a most un-patriotic act. So don't get so pissed off when we knock Walker's dismal record.

But, but the dropout says that Wisconsin is open for business. Oh well, maybe Allstate stood a little to close to Scott Walker when they stood with him. I'll bet it is all part of his master plan that he concocted with his massive thinking powers. He has one of those high school diplomas, you know.

No Joy, they just decided to stop paying all claims due to the crappy economy. It's what insurance companies do - take your money then fight like the devil to not pay claims. No need for a claims center now.

Gov Rocketman Walker, where are those 250,000 jobs you promised before the regular election, after the regular election, before the recall election and again after the recall election? If President Obama fails to deliver on a goal, he is called all kinds of despicable names by the right. So what does your failure make you?

I think the folks glued to a certain part the wankers anatomy just will always be able to explain why Wi. loses jobs while the rest of the country is gaining. Even the terrible state of Ill. I know the President just hates Wi.

GoodAmerican,
So you are saying that the government should force companies to keep employees even if business conditions dont warrant the need for them? Sounds like Greece, Italy, France, etc. and we all have seen how that works out in the long run. Unemployment above 20%, is that really what you want? Maybe I misunderstand what you are saying, your post is a bit incoherent.

Could it have something to do with more people entering claims online, like it did for Land's End? If fewer people are calling in claims, then it doesn't make sense to reduce all the call centers by a few...you would close one entire call center to save on the real estate and utilities and have the calls shunted over to the other remaining call centers. Technology has always reduced jobs of one form and promoted jobs of another, like when people didn't have to weave fabric by hand anymore and it could be mass-produced, people lost those jobs but the economy eventually created others (IE repair people for the equipment, etc.)

You guys must have some inside info on why Allstate is letting people go. I am sure it has nothing to do with an overall crappy economy that is keeping many companies from expanding.
