East Troy man injured in plane crash
EAST TROY—An East Troy man was taken to a Waukesha Hospital with head injuries after crashing his plane Saturday afternoon on the runway at Air Troy Estates.
According to a Walworth County Sheriff’s Office news release: Deputies from the sheriff’s office and officers from the East Troy Police Department responded to a report of a plane crash at 3:24 p.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, first responders found a downed plane on the runway and a lone male occupant in the 1969 Scottbuilt fixed wing XS-1, also known as Old Iron Sides.
Ronald G. Scott, 79, of East Troy, had to be extricated from the plane and was taken by East Troy ambulance to a Waukesha Hospital. His condition is not known at this time.
Scott was attempting to land his plane on the runway—a privately maintained grass airstrip known as Air Troy Estates, just off Sky Lane in the town of East Troy.
The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Aviation Administration are coordinating an investigation into the crash.
The Wisconsin State Patrol and East Troy Fire and Rescue also provided assistance at the scene.
