UPDATE: Fire destroys a vehicle, damages two houses
MILTON TOWNSHIP--A vehicle fire Friday afternoon spread to two Milton Township homes, causing an estimated $17,000 in damage.
The fire was reported at 5:09 p.m. Friday, said Milton Fire Chief Loren Lippincott.
When Milton and Edgerton firefighters arrived on scene they discovered the fire had spread from a 1997 Chevy Suburban to the house at 1705 E. Road 2 and into a neighboring house to the east, he said.
“We’re not exactly sure,” what caused the vehicle fire, Lippincott said.
The homeowner of the single family, single-story home at 1705 E. Road 2 was home at the time of the fire but got out safely.
“He was home alone as far as I could tell,” Lippincott said.
The fire was contained to the exterior of both homes and caused an estimated $10,000 damage to the house next to the burning vehicle and between $5,000 and $7,000 damage to the neighboring house, Lippincott said.
