Beloit man hospitalized after truck hits tree

TOWN OF YORK—A Beloit man was flown by helicopter to a hospital with injuries after his pickup truck crashed into a tree this afternoon in Dane County.

According to a news release from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, a 74-year-old Beloit man was northbound on Highway 73 in a Dodge pickup when he went off the road near Clarkson Road about two miles north of Marshall.

The vehicle went over a culvert and struck a tree, injuring the man, police reported.

Authorities have not released the man’s name pending further information on his condition. Police characterized his injures as “serious” and reported the man was flown by emergency helicopter to University Hospital, Madison.

The man was the only person in the pickup at the time, police reported.

The crash happened at about noon today, and its cause remains unknown, police reported.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
