TOWN OF FULTON--A woman was flown to University Hospital in Madison, and a man was treated at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville after two motorcycles and a car collided Saturday afternoon on a county road.

According to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office:

Brenda Erickson, 38, Blanchardville, was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by Matthew D. Smith, 30, Janesville. Erickson was flown by helicopter to University Hospital with what were described as serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Gary Oscarson, 49, Brodhead, was riding a motorcycle near Smith’s. Both were southbound on County H. Oscarson lost control as Smith’s bike slowed for a curve, and Oscarson’s bike hit Smith’s bike from behind.

All three riders were thrown from the two motorcycles. The motorcycles continued southbound and struck a northbound car driven by Katelyn E. Demrow, 24, Edgerton. Demrow had two children with her. No one in the car was hurt.

Oscarson was transported to Mercy with not life-threatening injuries.

Smith sustained minor injuries but was released from the crash scene. Sheriff’s deputies, Edgerton fire and EMS and Janesville paramedics responded to the call at 3:33 p.m. Saturday on County H near County M.

Speed might have contributed to the crash, according to the news release. None of the riders were wearing helmets.

The road was closed until 8:24 p.m. while deputies reconstructed the accident.
