RGA releases ad attacking Barrett, Falk

By ASSOCIATED PRESS   Friday, March 23, 2012 - 9:06 a.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Republican Governors Association has launched a new television ad in Wisconsin attacking Democrats Tom Barrett and Kathleen Falk.

The 30-second ad that began running statewide Friday goes after Barrett's record on taxing and spending while Milwaukee mayor and Falk's record as Dane County executive.

Falk has declared that she is running against Republican Gov. Scott Walker in a recall election expected to take place either May 8 or June 5. Barrett is considering getting into the race and has said he will make a decision by April 3.

The RGA ad seems to indicate that at least among that group Barrett is likely to get in.

Two other Democrats, state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout and Secretary of State Doug La Follette, are also running.

We could avoid all this crap they day we put an independent in the Governor’s office that won’t be a coward and be subject to the party line like democrats and republicans are. When that day dose come Wisconsin will be better than we are now. Because it seems to me the only time democrats and republicans care is when there is an election around where as independents answer to the people and not there party because independents know the people of Wisconsin run the state and not the politicians. Problem with democrats and republicans they seem to forget that at times and that is why we have things like this recall because of the bickering and arguing that goes on. Until that day comes and we elect an independent as Governor I will be a minority of one because everyone else is afraid to vote that way.

feduptaxpayer said, "Litkeep - I have just placed your name on the nomination list to be president of the rachael madcow fan club. If elected, you will get an authenticated replica of the infamous nancy pelosersi mega gavel to be used at all fan club meetings."

Fedup, that "infamous nancy pelosersi mega gavel" that you're thinking of is actual John Boehner's mega gavel. 95% chance that he cried the first time he saw it. And I'm not sure exactly who nancy pelosersi is. Done.

WisconsinResident: Good post but the chance of seeing a true independent in the governor office or in the oval office are less than those of me capturing a unicorn. Rockford is unique in that they have elected and re-elected an independent mayor. Wish other cities, states, etc. would follow suit. Used to be that Republicans would run far right and Democrats run far left to win primaries and then drift back to the middle for general election and to govern. They no longer seem to know where the middle is. Both sides would do well to learn some lessons from both Reagan and Clinton.

If Walker is so great then why are we even having this recall in the first place. remember I am not a republican or a democrat and i did not ask for a recall everyone else did. This is the kind of politics i can't stand and have no tolerance for were suposed to be working together and were not we have not for better than 20 years now and we need to change that and start working together or Wisconsin will self-destruct. This is why I hate democrats and republicans they refuse to work together it's about the party lines this lies the name calling and the running away from their resposibilities that has created this mess. In my opinion I think the time has come for republicans and democrats to step aside or Wisconsin will self-destruct

Still amazes me that the dems had no end game in their recall efforts. What is the point if you don’t have someone who can beat him lined up to run? Almost seems they are so stupid they thought Walker would be taken out of office when the signatures were turned in and the liberal fairy would appoint a new Governor.

Good one officer. Truth is funnier than fiction.

Youll have to forgive Darlene(winklady) she spends her days on conservative websites , returns here and posts links to them and regurgitates talking points. Her posts always have links to Maciver, Heritage, Media Trakkkers , etc... as if they are legitimate non-biased websites. Similar to Verify the recall and others who say one thing and do another. Ask her about "cigarrettes for signatures" a scandal she tried to spread before it was a scandal, then left holding the bag when it was BS.
Heres a great one that shouldnt surprise anyone.

Fair enough w-lady, do you or have you worked on Grothman's campaigns? Do you post based on talking points offered up by Grothman and the Repub agenda? If you do not, I apologize. If I'm wrong I again apologize and will not reference this again. I will however check with my friend, who also happens to be your friend. Politics can be so hurtful. Your consistent posts of Democrats bad, repub... good has run it's course. Myself and I hope the rest of the Badger state will measure these upcoming recalls based on the candidates record. After all this is not the Bears/Packers rivalry where people should just be cheering for their team. This Governor has hurt many every day people terribly. We now know Walkers record and who his puppet masters are. He will not get a second vote from me. Off topic, but I just read an interesting article of the Kock brothers and their business trading practices with Iran. One more reason to ask what our nations riches folks are trying to accomplish.

I love the add. It pales in contrast to the Governors cronies that possess child porn, steal from our fine veterans, not to mention Walkers 1st year in office. His record is the best thing going for the recall. A decrease in private sector jobs, an attack on public sector jobs. The only job the Gov is really worried about is his own. Scooper is the worst Governor in Wisconsin history and he accomplished this in a little over a year. The scariest part is Senator Grothman keeps spewing his propaganda and offering up bills attacking women's rights. It makes me wonder why Wislady is such a puppet for this guy. Really Wislady? why are you a poster for Grothman?

Barrett uses RGA attack ad to raise money

Democratic Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is using a new attack ad to raise money, but he's still not saying whether he will run against Republican Gov. Scott Walker in a recall election.

His fundraising plea came Friday after the Republican Governors Association launched a new 30-second television ad statewide that goes after Barrett's record on taxing and spending and Kathleen Falk's record as Dane County executive.

Panred said "Fear is the prime motivation that leads one to attack." That's a great line, too bad it's far from true. I know that because for almost two years Democrats have been attacking Scott Walker and surely we know they're not scared. We heard about the brave marchers and the brave petition signers. So maybe the line should be "Bravery is the prime motivation that leads one to attack". That fits much better with the Democratic party. If things aren't the we want em we're brave enough to change em one way or the other!

When Marquette pollsters asked, respondents were split right down the middle on changes to collective bargaining -- 48 percent were for them, 47 percent were against them. But there is a huge difference on whether state workers should pay more for pension and health benefits -- 74 percent favor them paying more, while 22 percent are opposed. Overall, half of respondents believe our state is headed in the right direction, while 46 percent don't.

DailyKos panicked today after Scott Walker appeared to beat every one of the potential candidates in the upcoming recall election.

Fear is the prime motivation that leads one to attack. Obviously the Republicans are afraid of not only Ms. Falk but of Mr. Barrett as well and he hasn't declared whether he will run or not. I guess when you are that scared, you see non-existent adversaries everywhere. Actually Republicans have little choice but to attack. It’s difficult to spin their negative messaging in a positive manner.

See I told you all this would happen and I was right. Now wait till they attack Falk for the way Dane County handled the 911 call from Brittany Zimmerman on April 2, 2008 and they go into why Falk really resigned as Dane County Exe. That will be the next thing that happens. This is the reason I do not like democrats or republicans because of this kind of bickering and arguing that I am talking about and were about to watch Wisconsin Self-destruct you watch what a pity an independent don’t run. Because in my opinion I think it’s time for republicans and democrats to step aside and go quiet into that good night. That would be the best thing for Wisconsin is to have a Governor that would not be subject to the party line and actually represent the people and not his party or any hidden agenda
