Power outage reported on city’s east side
JANESVILLE—Fifty-six Alliant Energy customers on the east side of Janesville are without power after the Janesville Fire Department responded around 6:30 p.m. Saturday to a report of arcing wires in the 3900 block of Beacon Hill Drive in the Wuthering Hills subdivision.
An Alliant Energy spokesman said the power outage “could be a couple hours.”
A Rock County Communications dispatcher said the fire department had left the scene, but Alliant Energy crews remained.

We also had power outages this past week, on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
When I called Alliant to inquire about this of course I was given the typical answer of "it was a squirrel that had gotten into the transformer" each time. If we are having such problems that have caused outages three times in one week, maybe they should enclose the transformers, which by the way are up on top of the electric poles on the lot lines that caused power only to be out on our block, with some kind of cage? It would eliminate the supposed squirrel problem and would surely pay for themselves in a short time just by eliminating workers from having to come out at 6:00am to figure out what caused it, and fix the issue.
How hard could it be to put some sort of a cage around these where they could still have visibility yet keep the critters out?
