Rock County Fire Chiefs to lift burn ban
An advisory burn ban set in place in Rock County during weeks of drought this month is being lifted effective Friday, the Rock County Fire Officers Association announced.
As of today, Rock County was still being considered by the United States Department of Agriculture to be under a state of “extreme drought.”
But Edgerton Fire Chief Brian Demrow wrote in a news release today that recent rains have lowered the threat of wildfires, prompting countywide fire agencies to lift the burn ban.
The ban had prohibited all open and controlled burning except for small campfires and included all of Rock County and parts of the Edgerton Fire Protection District in Dane County, including the towns of Albion and Sumner.
