Feingold to be visiting prof at Lawrence Univ.
APPLETON, Wis. (AP) — Former U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold will serve as a visiting professor this fall at Lawrence University in Appleton.
The Wisconsin Democrat will present guest lectures in courses including "Introduction to International Relations" and "International Politics."
Feingold is no stranger to teaching. Last year he was a visiting professor at Marquette University Law School, and he plans to teach at Stanford Law School next year.
The Janesville native served three terms in the Senate before losing a re-election bid in 2010 to Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson.
Feingold fought for campaign-finance reform and was the lone senator to vote against the Patriot Act in 2001. He also opposed President Barack Obama's decision to expand the war in Afghanistan and was the first senator to propose a timetable to exit Iraq.

4bears--Your comment "The founding fathers never contemplated an illiterate, uneducated electorate." hit the nail on the head......I completely agree with you on this point. Obama should have never been allowed into the highest office in our country. Hopefully we can correct this situation with the next election:)

Russ is an independent thinker and one of the finest Senators Wisconsin has ever had the privilege of sending to Washington.
We are indeed in trouble when as a society the least educated, the least common denominator screams obscenities loud enough to drown out the voices of reason and enlightenment.
The founding fathers never contemplated an illiterate, uneducated electorate.

Johnson is opposed to same-sex marriage and the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell". He is "definitely pro-life" and opposes abortion but would allow it in cases of incest, rape, or when the mother's life is in danger. He opposes the funding of research that uses embryonic stem cells. Johnson has stated he disagrees with it morally and also has said that eliminating the funding of the research would help balance the federal budget.
Only thing I agree with him on is abortion.
eliminating stem cell funding will help balance the federal budget? Like saying a drop of rain will help the drought were having, just DUMB.

Johnson has called scientists who attribute global warming to man-made causes "crazy" and has said the theory is "lunacy." He has said the source of the climate change is "sunspot activity or just something in the geologic eons of time.
Sun spots? I think that Rons Brain has been afected, you may think Global warming is horse hockey(its not) but sun spots? LOL

Child Victims Act
Johnson opposed a Wisconsin bill that would have eliminated the time limit for future child, sex abuse victims to bring lawsuits and allowed an additional three years for past victims to sue.
Johnson testified before the Wisconsin Senate, in January 2010. He said that "punishment for the actual perpetrators should be severe," but he questioned whether it would be just for employers of perpetrators to be severely financially damaged or destroyed by such lawsuits.

Heres a roundup of Ron for those like Eagle who love him because he talks about cutting debt as if talking about it means anything.:
Johnson was born in Mankato, Minnesota, the son of Jeanette Elizabeth (née Thisius) and Dale Robert Johnson. His father was of Norwegian descent and his mother was of German ancestry. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, he married Jane, the daughter of the businessman Howard Curler, co-founder of Curwod Industries, now part of the multinational Bemis Company. Her brother, Jeff Curler, is Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board of Bemis.
Johnson worked as an accountant for Jostens, a high school- and college class ring supplier, as well a sports-championship ring supplier, including for the Super Bowl, while attending night school for an MBA. He completed his classes, but did not receive his degree because he did not finish his thesis.
Thats right Eagle he MARRIED into MONEY. He isnt some successful businessman. He HIRES prison labor instead of workers to save money and worships China because businesses can pay their workers pennies an hour for labor!! Thats his "dream" for the United States. and you bought it!

"" I actually had my grades affected in college for speaking my mind"" I HIGHLY doubt that but whatever, sounds like your making an ecuse to me? Oshkosh?? Where else has he been? BTW no offense but I dont watch MSNBC or meet the press its for blowhards trying to make names for themselves.
Isnt Ron Johnson the guy who ran on Chinas sound business environment? Again please point out WHAT exactly he has done other than speak at party friendly events. "town halls" in oshkosh? What about Dane county? Rock county seems to only matter when Rominee shows up to get his face out there.
Funny thing is Eagle in college I was WAAAAAY farther right than you or just about any other poster on this site, and still I managed to do well expressing my thoughts quite loudly at one of the most liberal Universities in the nation.Never once blaming my low grades on a professor or TA, that is just trash. Whats funnier is how much I have turned my views around doing some reading and researching on my own AWAY from the MSNBCs and Foxies of the world. When on Earth did an appearance on "Meet the Press" ever get ANYTHING done in congress, EVER!!!
Ron Johnson is an absolute CLOWN!! He inherited his wealth and his plastic factory, he took government loans when it suited his pocketbook, and touted the Peoples Republic of China as the "business model we as a nation should follow to be prosperous!! A communist NATION!! All this and YOU bought his rhetoric!! Acting like a tea party nutbag doesnt get things done in Washington, sorry.A couple of town hall meetings with SUPPORTERS in Oshkosh doesnt mean he is meeting with constituents.
I haver NEVER in my life seen a man get cleaned up so badly in the debates and still win an election. An absolute hypocrite in almost every sense of the word, not very equipped to really speak about real issues , but whines about the debt constantly an you people just eat it up. What else does he stand for? Anything? You people would vote for Cookie the Clown if his name were followed by an R.

Fear Johnson is repeatedly on MSNBC and Meet the Press regularly pounding about the national debt, I was in Oshkosh over the weekend he has held town halls in that area several times, considering he has been there for a year and a half and people I know in California know who he is speaks volumes. Open your eyes I realize you don’t like him and don’t want him to succeed however he is doing more than most people in congress and not the usual passing of laws to just get their name out there (McCain/ Feingold comes to mind)

What does Scott Walker do at appearances? Well in Janesville he sneaks in and out back entrances of hotels to avoid protesters, greasy weasel?? Or just a chicken?? A little of both. In any sense very cowardly and not able to defend himself very well as is evidenced in debates where talking points are just repeated, over and over VERBATIM.

Pay attention to what Eagle? I havent seen him either. Except giving an occasional interview on Fox News. Russ had listening sessions in EVERY SINGLE county in Wisconsin, EVERY single year in office!! Even the famous anti-health care one in Waukesha county where people were yelling and screaming at him. When will you ever see Ron Johnson in a venue where almost everyone in the room hates his guts? I would like to see any republican that does such things. Scooter? No WAY!! Rominee, NEVER!!!! Anyone???? Russ is the definition of what politicians should be, willing to stand up for what they believe in and willing to face the music. You are aware that Russ is right leaning on several issues arent you?? Just because he is LABELED as a progressive/liberal doesnt mean that so many of you should have blind hate, maybe if you attend a listening session with him you could understand the depth of the man, instead of your own shallow views of what everything should be.
As an attendee of a university , I dont agree at all with your assertions of not encouraging free thought. I saw views/groups of all political/personal choices EVERYWHERE in college. Maybe you should have legft your dorm room once and a while, this whole "education is bad" mentality coming from the right is growing sickening. Maybe its why you are so closed of in your own views? Frankly Eagle I have known you to be one of the more reasonable individuals on here, your startiung to sound like the vatolocos (cookie cutter conservatives) and that is sad to me. Enough with the slogans please.

While I don't agree with much Feingold stands for I would find this to be a very interesting experience as a college student. Would be interesting if they had a point counterpoint feature by introducing opposing views but remembering my experience at college they tend to avoid actual thought. nonetheless this is pretty cool.
