BLOOMER—One person was injured Sunday evening after an ATV became out of control and flipped onto the operator on Marsh Miller Lake in Chippewa County.

According to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department:

The crash occurred at 5:31 p.m. just north of 210th Avenue in the town of Bloomer.

The operator of the ATV was driving north on the lake near Birch Point Resort.

Witnesses said the operator lost control, which caused the ATV to flip over several times. The vehicle landed on the operator at least once.

The ATV came to rest on the lake with moderate damage.

The operator was flown by helicopter to Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire with unspecified injuries.

Alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.

The operator’s name is expected to be released today.
