Two dead in Green County crash

SPRING GROVE TOWNSHIP – Two men died in a head-on crash Friday evening, the Green County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The two deceased drivers were identified as Arthur W. Hafferkamp, 85, of rural Sharon, and Israel Lara, 37, Monroe. Neither vehicle carried passengers.
The cause of the accident on State Highway 11/81 east of Juda was not immediately clear to investigators. Alcohol was not a factor, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
The highway was closed for more than two hours.
