Man charged in crash that injured Lake Geneva teacher

ELKHORN — A 29-year-old man charged in a Jan. 7 car collision that seriously injured a Lake Geneva teacher is scheduled to appear in Walworth County Court at 11 a.m. on Friday for a preliminary hearing

Jose A. Rodriguez Soto faces numerous charges, including operating without a valid license, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and reckless driving causing great bodily harm, according to a criminal complaint filed Jan. 17.

Carol A. Nocek, a fifth-grade teacher at Central-Denison Elementary School in Lake Geneva, suffered a fractured pelvis, fractured hip and bruised intestines in the accident.

According to the complaint, Nocek's husband said his wife would require numerous surgeries, and be hospitalized for approximately two months.

If convicted, Rodriguez Soto faces up to four years and eight months in prison and $21,000 in fines ... MORE
