MERRIMAC—The free ferry that carries Highway 113 traffic across the Wisconsin River at Merrimac has shut down for the season.
Wisconsin State Journal reports services will resume in spring when the crossing channel is ice-free.
The state Department of Transportation made the announcement Sunday.

jaxstaff3, there was no Monday print edition. The Gazette celebrates holidays - unless they fall on a Sunday, the only day the print edition makes significant money due to advertising inserts.

HomerSimpson, what we need is Federation transporter technology. I'm convinced that the same people that are suppressing super battery and cold fusion technology are blocking advancement on transporter technology.

Thanks for the wonderful story, as most Janesville natives would never have thought they would have shut it down at this time of year. I'll sleep better tonight.
