Democratic Sen. Vinehout enters governor’s race

By ASSOCIATED PRESS   Wednesday, February 8, 2012 - 10:58 a.m.

MADISON—Democratic state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout of Alma says she is running for governor if a recall election is ordered against Republican Gov. Scott Walker.
Vinehout on Wednesday joined former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk as the only announced Democrats. Several others are considering getting in, but even if no one does a primary would be necessary.
The recall petitions are in the process of being verified and no date for a primary or general election has been set.

Vinehout is one of the 14 Democratic state senators who fled to Illinois last year for three weeks to stop a vote on Walker’s proposal curbing public employee union rights. A farmer, the 53-year-old Vinehout was first elected in 2006 and won re-election in 2010 by 439 votes.

And I'm sure other leftist like you didn't have a problem using more names when signing the recall petition either.
It must be second nature to cheat.
Luckily we have voter ID to combat that problem.

Not sure if any of the 14 that went to Illinois would have a chance ... they did well by going for the 1st few days to let people know what was in the bill IMO. But I believe they stayed gone too long. I also beleve that Walker went too far. That said ... I believe Barrett would be the candidate that could beat Walker more easily than Falk or Vinehout. That said, I have a sense there will be a resignation before a recall election is held and Walker will be replaced by the lt. governor for at least the next year.

Kathy Vinehout is smart, down to earth, and honest. She will appeal to a lot of Wisconsinites. She might be the populist Democrat similar to red vest Lee Sherman Dreyfus was for the Republicans in 1978.

Having worked in business, and education both as a union member and non-member, I see so much ignorance. People who get their news from Fox and no where else are obvious. You need to read ALL the sources and make your OWN CONCLUSIONS. Mix it up-- Fox, NPR, CNN, etc. There are issues with unions absolutely. Yes, unions work to advance union agendas-- same way corporations work to advance corporate agendas. I am so sick of reading parroted Fox on these boards though. And then the name calling back and forth. Comments like these from both sides make me wish I lived elsewhere instead of amongst screaming per-pubescents. Of course the national political landscape looks that way too. However, I challenge everyone to study said landscape and its metamorphosis over the last 60-70 years and legitimately argue how "socialist" our white house is. Or Marxist. Terms are being thrown around that have no bearing. Find out the true history of Alinsky. I challenge people on both sides to not just listen to sound bites but take the ENTIRE context. Oh my, what a thought. Can we please get legitimate debate on this board? For example, I completely disagree with Senator Orin Hatch's policies, but I believe he is a man who truly cares for the country. Same with Michael Huckabee. We can agree to disagree and work TOGETHER. The tea-party, Cantor, McConnell (yes I'd consider him tea) etc refuse to cooperate. Freedom First wants Hatch gone from the Senate (so do I) not because of his values, but because he dared *gasp* to TALK with democrats. They want people who say NO to any dem idea. That's not how a 2-party works or can work. And these are the messages that the public is eating up. Let's talk, left and right, and meet in the middle!

jfirst- unfortunately you are so wrapped up in labels and worried about how I spell words you just cannot get out of your own way. You label liberal this and union that wthout even looking at what is the truth or what is not. I find it funny that you and others like you worry so much about grouping people and how I may mispell a word that you ignore so many factual arguments.

Oustide of your hatred for unions, what has the governor done for the state of Wisconsin since being elected? Divide, dictate? I can point out a whole laundry list of things that I disagree with BESIDES act 10, you just repeated a specific question and I answered it. What I find is your lack of searching for the facts and how this governor and all of his rubber stampers have hurt our state, and lack any type of indepenence when it comes to just about anything.
So go ahead and run spell check on my posts if that is what makes you happy on your soap box. I believe that this Governors lack of respect for public sector workers , teachers, police, fire, prison guards , etc.... shows exactly why public sector unions are necessary. To protect them from heavy handed LYING, CHEATING, STEALING ideologues.
When addressing issues of intellect, you may try to remember that your beloved governor left college, shall we say dropped out, and is not qualified to substitute teach a kindergarten class. I am, I have an advanced degree, shouldnt we expect a MINIMUM of education from our top elected official in Government?

@hdonlybob: you made a great point I was just going to make. The blind hate is so evident in "fear4's" (and others) posts that they have lost sight of logic and how regular elections work on the liberal side of things. The last sentence of his last post actually proves the point. He thinks that because he can vote for a non-union backed candidate, that that candidate could possibly win? And to blame others for being stupid, then spell "incompetant" like this in the next post makes my point further.

I didnt answer your ridculous question because its obvious, OF COURSE one of the goals of Vinehout or anyone elected should be the repeal of act 10!!
Like a true parrott , its lib this, and union that. Ignoring that both parties including your beloved governor has special interests behind them. Do I think that unions have influence , of course! Do ihate them for it? NO!! Because like any other group they have an agenda, because that is what politics is!! The funny thing is that you seem to be under the illusion that the governor any republican or democrat in office gives a rats behind about you me or anyone. I choose the one to vote for that I BELIEVE is going to benefit society in general, not a select few wealth folks and allow them to make more money while a large majority make less and are unemployed. Oh yes and BTW it looks like there will be a democratic primary, so in the end no matter how much garble you and others spew in the end, THE PEOPLE will be the ones choosing the candidate to unseat this (alleged)criminal.

Unlike many of the predictables in here I actually have seen her speak and answer questions. Of the candidates around right now she would be one I could get behind. She is VERY well spoken and good on her feet. Answers any and all questions very eloquently and completely. I also like the fact that she is not very well known statewide, makes her much more attractive of a candidate than Falk or any of the others that have announced. She was fantastic at fighting Bob fest.
I also believe that she could unseat Walker , which is something I dont believe about Kathy Falk.
