Walker says DA requested talks on probe

By ASSOCIATED PRESS   Monday, February 6, 2012 - 4:56 p.m.

WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says he voluntarily agreed to the Milwaukee County district attorney’s request to meet with him about a secret investigation that so far has led to charges against five of Walker’s former close aides and associates.

Walker made brief comments Monday after a public appearance in Waukesha. They were among his first following an announcement Friday that he would meet with District Attorney John Chisholm. Walker said the meeting date is up to the district attorney to announce.

The investigation has created a potential vulnerability for Walker, who faces a potential recall.

Walker says his lawyers are examining thousands of emails his campaign has turned over to the DA. He said he hired the lawyers because it would take him too much time to do that work.

That sounds pretty medically complicated. What an an absolutely ignorant comment.

Walker may be winning (depending on your definition - certainly the wealthy are doing fine) but the people of Wisconsin are losing big time from his draconian policies. And just wait until we see the effects of his "ignorance in education" policies. Wisconsin will fall a long way toward the bottom which is exactly were people that have no value of education believe it should be. Then we all lose but the wealthy can move on. Most of us will be left here to rebuild from his scorched earth policies.

What everyone misses, is Walker may not be found to have done anything wrong. Or at least, nothing can be proven. But if he lies to anyone investigating, it's a crime. See Martha Stewart case. So he's actually smart to have an attorney present. Just looks bad for his choices to represent himself. Maybe he needs to do a Checkers speech to wiggle out.

"Walker says his lawyers are examining thousands of emails his campaign has turned over to the DA. He said he hired the lawyers because it would take him too much time to do that work."

That comment would suggest that Walker thinks he could have examined the emails from the same legal perspective as lawyers. As we know, Walker quit college and obviously has no law degree. Why didn't he hire ten unemployed paralegals to examine the emails with an even greater level of legal expertise than he could have reviewed them with? Why two high-priced DEFENSE lawyers?

Six of Walker's inner circle charged with fifteen felonies and three misdemeanors. "Unfortunately, we have a Governor and administration that condones unethical and illegal behavior," Walker said in a statement on Jan. 24, 2006. "The people of Wisconsin deserve better." Scott Walker made that statement after the convicion of a single individual in the Doyle administration--a conviction that was tossed out because the evidence was "razor thin." With the flood of charges against Walker's closest associates, I have to agree with his prior words--The people of Wisconsin deserve better!

Interesting that both lawyers are criminal defense lawyers, and the one from Milwaukee grew up with his father, the mob defense lawyer.
