JANESVILLE--A sixth candidate has announced intentions to seek one of four open seats on the Janesville City Council, and an incumbent has announced she won’t seek re-election.

Ken Cass, 36, of 2107 Joliet St., is circulating nomination papers. The director of human resources at Rhyan Management, he has not previously sought public office.

Incumbent Deb Dongarra-Adams has signed a declaration of non-candidacy. Dongarra-Adams, who served a single two-year term, did not return a call for comment Wednesday.

Circulating nomination papers are incumbents DuWayne Severson and Sam Liebert and newcomers Brian Fitzgerald, Jerry Smythe and Sarah Carter.

Those interested must pick up nomination forms in the city clerk’s office at City Hall, 18 N. Jackson St., gather not fewer than 200 and not more than 400 signatures and return the papers by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Dan, I'm wondering when your buddy Yuri is going to add his name. Isn't his ego missing the spotlight yet?

stl2011ws, you may want to check the FINRA record of one of your recommendations.

"Sam Liebert I remember was out at the bars downtown late at night getting signatures. There should be more to it than getting signatures."

I'm sure he's doing more than that. He knocked on my door the other night, looking for a signature.

Sad that Deb isn't running again. Maybe she got fed up with all the partisan bickering in a none partisan office.

Radical righties have done so well. So far the people on our council have kept our taxes among the lowest in the state. I own property in other towns and tax rates are higher with less services. Those councils are really run by righties! Sometimes spending money isn't a bad thing in the long run.

IMO Frank Perrotto, Bill Truman, and Tom MacDonald were three of the best JCC members ever. They each displayed the most important quality--common sense. Any chance one or all of you guys would run again, please?

HAve to agree with Sigma this time "Sam Liebert I remember was out at the bars downtown late at night getting signatures. There should be more to it than getting signatures."
Nice another one that cannot manage his own finances- Ken Cass.

What should matter to voters/taxpayers is whether or not these candidates are loony liberals, spendthrifts, democratic party left wing socialists or union puppets..... We have at LEAST three of those on the council now. We certainly don't need more.

"Kenneth Cass" has quite an extensive list of financial judgments against him on CCAP. Then again, the way the Janesville council likes to spend money, he might fit right in.

"Human resources"....It would be great to have people that can actually act upon their own and make decisions based on real logic. Most human resource people ive worked with are mere puppets. They should post his resume online along with an extensive background, financial, and Harrison assessment results. Seems landing a spot on city council is easier than landing most jobs. Sam Liebert I remember was out at the bars downtown late at night getting signatures. There should be more to it than getting signatures.
