MADISON—The state Department of Natural Resources is looking for volunteers to help researchers with a deer mortality study early next year.
The DNR is in the third year of a five-year research project examining causes of deer deaths. Each year the agency has relied on volunteers to help gather data in the field.
This time around the DNR is looking for anyone willing to spend a full day in the woods with biologists, checking traps, taking blood samples, performing ultrasounds on does and fitting deer with radio collars and ear tags before releasing them. Biologists plan to work around Winter and Shiocton in January, February and March.
Volunteers can sign up on the DNR’s website or by calling project coordinator Mike Watt at 608-221-6376.

hg - "At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul." -Principal, Billy Madison.

Could this be another Walker plot to be able to say these volunteers are working? The way I see it the only ones with the time are unemployed and if 100 unemployed volunteer then Walker can claim they are working and make his numbers look better when in fact volunteering is not employed. But you watch, the government will twist it to look good in their favor.

Sorry, I did it in a hurry ! My bad. If you use google you will find what you need. In my opinion the program will not hurt anything. maybe it will get some interested in working for the DNR.
On another note my friend and I saw over 60 deer last night in Lafayette County in 4 hours, one herd had over twenty and, they were on the State land or neighboring farm land. The deer are there you just need to go to the right places and do your homework, did we get one, NO maybe next time when they are in range or jump the fence.

The working domains are wisconsin.gov and wi.gov, bassman. There's nothing at wis.gov at all (it isn't even registered).

Who better to do this than the deer themselves.

Its going to be hard to get deer to volunteer for this unnatural act. Besides, has anyone even once thought of the impact this will have on the deer as individuals? It is totally out of their norm. Kind of like when the white man came to this country and told the indians how they had to live. Now look at them (us).

It would have been helpful to post the link to the DNR website!
