Whitewater company announces 87 layoffs
WHITEWATER -- Trostel Ltd. in Whitewater notified the state this week it plans to layoff 87 workers beginning in December.
The company, headquartered in Lake Geneva, sent a letter to the Department of Workforce Development announcing its plans to begin layoffs Dec. 1.
Some of its products have reached the end of production, and Trostel is attempting to lure new customers to take their place, according to its letter to the state. If it’s successful, there could be fewer layoffs.
Nobody at the company was available Monday for comment.
State law requires 60 days notice before businesses with 50 or more employees experience mass layoffs or closings.
Trostel designs and manufactures custom seals and molded rubber products. It has plants in Whitewater and Mexico.

Million dollar question? Why don't you stop buying foreign made products and promoting jobs in other countries. How about changing a little think called NAFTA. I will take my million in $100's please.

Yeah, well, Congress was trying to pass a new jobs bill which would have provided incentives for companies to keep jobs in the US. The Republicans predictably blocked it, even though it would have been good for American workers.
Until the GOP starts actually doing things to help the middle class, instead of being the party of "Hell no!", they can take their criticisms of Obama and shove it.

I wouldn't worry about this. Between the millions of jobs promised from the Democrats' health care bill, and the financial reform bill, and the stimulus bill, there will soon be a problem with not enough labor. Just you want and see! To doubt this is to be a right-wing racist hater!

Minan- Or, people could open up their minds and find something viable that deals with the age we're in. There's options, people are just resistant to change.

I remember back in 2002ish when they announced they were building the Mexico plant.. Don't worry about your job. We're not going to close the plant. If it weren't for PCD, the Whitewater Molding plant probably would have closed years ago. That place is like a ghost town now! Good luck to all of the people who still work there. So glad I moved on when I did.
