State Revenue Department announces office closings
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — State Revenue Department offices in Wisconsin Rapids and Waukesha are closing.
The department announced the closures on Monday. They are part of a plan the department announced in 2007 to consolidate 27 field offices into seven regional offices.
The Waukesha office is closing Thursday. The Wisconsin Rapids office will close on May 18. Regional offices in Milwaukee and Eau Claire remain open for customers who previously went to the sites that are shutting down.
The consolidation is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
The seven regional offices that will remain open will be in Appleton, Green Bay, Eau Claire, Madison, Milwaukee, Wausau and Chicago.

Gazette, we are confused about why there's a Wisconsin state revenue office in Chicago, and why on earth is IT remaining open over others? Guess it's about interstate commerce? Or what?
